Under the contract, ABB will provide complete e-house solutions, including medium voltage and low voltage switchgear, and systems for integrated electrical distribution, control, safety and power management, including ABB’s 800xA distributed control system.

These systems will distribute and manage power required to inject 120,000 barrels of water a day into the reservoir as well as to compress up to 120,000 million cubic feet of natural gas.

The former Armada Ali FPSO tanker, now renamed as Armada Olombendo, is being reconfigured by Bumi Armada.

ABB floating production units global market segment manager Stein Guldbrandsoy said: "FPSO vessels offer a competitive solution for the development of deep water and remote oil and gas fields, such as those in the West of Africa."

The new tanker will be placed at the Cabaça North and Cabaça Southeast fields, which are expected to produce up to 80,000 barrels a day by the end of 2016.

Discovered in 2009, the Cabaça fields are estimated to host approximately 230 million barrels of reserves.

ABB Oil, Gas and Chemicals business managing director Per Erik Holsten said: "We aim for long-term partnerships with customers through successful project execution, innovative offshore technology and an extensive service footprint."
