The company will partner with Kalilangan Biomass Energy and Don Carlos Biomass Energy to develop two 10MW biomass projects, and with Misamis Oriental Biomass Energy to construct a 12MW project.

Mackay Green Energy chairman and CEO James Mackay was quoted by The Inquirer as saying: "It costs $3m per MW, all in, including the turbines."

The company expects to commence construction of the facilities by middle of next month, with the 10MW power projects planned to be commissioned by the middle of 2016.

Power generated from the three projects will be sold under the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme.

The facilities will use bana grass as feedstock. The grass can yield up to 200 dry tons or 400 wet tons per hectare annually.
