Built on the river Alaknanda in Pauri Garhwal district, the greenfield hydro project features fourpower generation units, each with a capacity of 82.5MW.

The project, which is launched by Alaknanda Hydro Power (GVK Group), will utilize the waters of River Alaknanda by way of a diversion dam.

Power produced from the project will be supplied to the Uttar Pradesh Government under a power purchase agreement. Around 12% of the output will be supplied to the Uttarakhand state.

The project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while contributing to the country’s low carbon development target.
