Located approximately 16km off the coast of East Frisia and 14km east of the island of Wangerooge, the €410m wind facility will consist of 18 Senvion 6.2M126 turbines.

KfW IPEX and European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide loans for the project, with the latter contributing €156m. Wpd will fully own the project.

According to the company, the project’s major components production will commence soon.

Expected to start in March 2016, the offshore construction work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.

In addition to Senvion, the project team includes Ambau for foundations, BVT for transformer substation, NSW for internal cabling and Bilfinger for installation.

Nordergründe is Wpd’s third offshore project after the Baltic 1 and Butendiek.
