All 116 foundations at the Rampion offshore wind farm have been installed on schedule, the project’s developers say.
E.On, the Green Investment Bank (GIB) and Enbridge are building the 400 MW wind farm off the south coast of England. They have announced that installation of the wind generating components at the wind farm will start in the spring of 2017.
Work to install the monopile foundations started in early February 2016 and was put on hold, as planned, during the Black Bream spawning season between mid-April and July. All connective fittings have also been installed, which will be used later to mount the tower with its turbine nacelle and rotor blades.
The project is located 12 km off the coast of Sussex and will use MHI Vestas 3.45 MW turbines. Work on the underwater cables and preparations for installation of the transformer station will continue, E.On said.
The wind farm is due to be fully operational in 2018.
