The contract provides for the implementation of one of IMPSA’s high-performance hydraulic designs to optimize machine efficiency. The project’s 3 105MW Pelton turbines will have four injectors and a net head of 900m. IMPSA will be testing the unner operation at its hydraulics laboratory in Mendoza, which is equipped with a high-head universal test rig specially designed for Pelton turbines.
Unlike the project’s old runners, which are cast, the new 3m-diameter runners that will help drive the turbines are fully machined from a single forged piece.
The La Tasajera power plant, which adds 315MW to the grid, is located in the Barbosa district, northern Valle del Aburrá, and near the Girardota district in Colombia.
