The Ichthys LNG Field is located approximately 220km offshore Western Australia and 820km southwest of Darwin.

Under the contract, Kongsberg will provide adjustable pipe support structures (APS) to the 882km-long subsea pipeline that continues 7km onshore to the liquefaction facilities being constructed at Bladin Point near Darwin.

Kongsberg Oil & Gas president Pål Helsing said: "We are really looking forward to work with Saipem on this project. The contract is important for us in the Australian market and it shows that our solutions fit very well into the conditions and challenges offshore Australia."

The APS will bring the pipeline to the required height and orientation at the end termination.

Kongsberg will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction and delivery, while Saipem will carry out the installation.

The APS, which is being constructed Henderson, Western Australia, will undergo testing followed by installation by the end of July 2015.
