The contract was awarded by LKAB and is valued at approximately Euro980,000 (US$1.43M).
The package of work involves developing the design for the new structure, which will be located within an existing dam system that is to be unaffected by the construction works.
Sweco is also to undertake preparation of the bid documents for the contractor tender stage.
The project is being developed to help facilitate new rail construction outside the site and also to hide the mining activities from view.
The consultant said that the project was required as a result of the mining operations influencing the urban landscape in Kiruna.
