The $600m project aims to boost processing capabilities for light crude oil production at the 230,000-b/d Corpus Christi West refinery, which is located Corpus Christi, Texas, US, PennEnergy reports.

Under the modification and expansion three-year contract, KBR will be responsible for construction management and direct hire construction services at Flint Hills Resources’ Project Eagle Ford.

The contract follows a previous deal signed by KBR with Flint Hills for ongoing construction advisory services as Flint Hills Resources completes front-end engineering and design work for the project.

Work under the contract will be carried out in phases.

KBR president and CEO Stuart Bradie said: "We are excited to be a part of this significant project and to continue to grow and maintain a substantial presence in the Texas Gulf Coast region.

"This win is indicative of KBR’s strategic commitment to maintaining a strong direct hire construction offering. We will provide Flint Hills Resources a construction team with proven experience, positioning ourselves as a partner in their success."

Global technology, engineering, procurement and construction company, KBR has designed or constructed more than 1,000 refining units across the globe, for more than 50 years.
