Siemens industrial turbine and power plant division has unveiled its new concept in steam turbines, the Siecoline programme. The modular system for steam turbines allows potential customers to rapidly move through the initial design phases of an installation, saving as much as 40 per cent on design costs, according to Siemens. A proprietary computer aided design software package forms a core part of the programme, aimed at improving the economics of distributed generation.
By using a modular system based on standardised components, Siemens claims to significantly enhance reliability, improving performance but also easing financing of new projects. In addition to the Siecoline range of products, Siemens is also offering remote plant monitoring and full-service contracts for a fixed annual fee.
