The spillway construction works, which are part of the rehabilitation and modernization of cascade of the hydro plants on Kuban being carried out by RusHydro and Alstom Hydro under an agreement, will be completed by the end of 2014.
Once construction works worth RUB212.4m (€4.8m) complete, the capacity of the new spillway will be around 120m3/s, and combined with the pass-through capacity of the plant, it will be 250m3/s, which is enough to resist extreme floods.
Earlier in 2011, RusHydro and Alstom signed an agreement, under which Alstom will manufacture equipment and supervise installation and pre-launch testing for the modernization of eight hydropower plants and one pumped-storage plant.
