Valued at $3m, the comprehensive inspections were carried out for Entegra Power Group in 45 days to help address the company’s requirements.

Wood Group GTS-Power Plant Services president Frank Avery said the operation of Frame 7FA turbines fleet is challenging, increasing need for power plant owners to have a service provider with the specific experience and flexibility to adapt to their individual maintenance requirements.

”Our focus on the overall outage schedule, technical performance and cost management, allowed us to meet Entegra’s aggressive outage schedule,” Avery added.

Entegra Power operations manager Bob Stone said the turbines availability is a high priority for the company.

”Wood Group brought the technical depth and engineering to perform the event while guaranteeing and delivering on the tight 45-day outage schedule,” Stone added.

”Utilizing a risk-sharing approach contributed to our confidence in working with Wood Group and mitigated the risk of significant downtime.”

Comprising eight GE Frame 7FA gas turbines with inlet air fogging, and eight Alstom heat recovery steam generators, the Gila River Power Station is capable of producing 2,300 MW of electrical power in the US.

The power station also features supplemental duct-firing and four GE single case, single flow axial exhaust condensing steam turbines.

Wood Group GTS currently oversees gas turbine upgrades, repairs, outage services, and the operations and maintenance of the Gila River plant.
