Based on the 380kW system, the 450kW system is said to have the highest generating efficiency of 42% in its class. The overall efficiency is 81.5%.

The efficiencies have been made possible by optimizing combustion and adopting a water-cooled turbocharger and a high-efficiency generator. The intercooler, which cools the fuel-air mixture and raises air density, has also been upgraded from the earlier one-stage type to a two-stage configuration.

According to the companies, the cogeneration system cuts costs by eliminating the use of denitrification equipment.

The 450kW system will be offered to hospitals, commercial facilities, office buildings, factories to promote its adoption.

According to MHI, the Great East Japan Earthquake has increased customer interest in gas cogeneration systems for their efficient use of energy, and ability to provide power security.
