Awarded by the Nuclear Energy Company of Slovakia (JESS), the unspecified, three-year contract represents a key strategic development for the company’s nuclear business in Central and Eastern Europe and also significantly increases its portfolio of activities in the region.

AMEC Clean Energy Europe business president Clive White said the contract covers provision of a full environmental impact assessment that is critical to ensuring the approval of neighboring states and other key stakeholders for the development of the Jaslovske Bohunice station.

”It is an area in which AMEC has recognised skill and expertise and confirms us as a major player in the new build programme being developed across Central Europe,” White added.

AMEC Central Europe business director Pavol Stuller said, ”This contract was won in the face of some strong competition and will enable us to demonstrate the technical skills we possess throughout the business, while also enabling us to call on the considerable expertise of our local partners in Slovakia.”
