Sovereign has recently acquired two wind projects of Infinergy, namely Burnbrae Farm in South Lanarkshire and White Lion in Carmarthenshire.

Infinergy is intending to invest about £20m to build between 5-10 projects. In addition, the two companies have forged a framework agreement aimed at providing an option to extend the partnership.

Commenting on the alliance, Sovereign official Andrew Hobley said that the partnership reflects company’s commitment towards renewable energy production in the UK and seeks an expansion in the sector.

"We are looking forward to further expand our relationship with Infinergy on future transactions," added Hobley.

Proposing to introduce the 500kW Dutch EWT Direct Wind turbine, Infinergy will provide construction and operation services for the projects.

First project under the partnership is scheduled to commence operations by April 2014.

Infinergy managing director Esbjorn Wilmar said: "I am delighted that Sovereign has come on board to invest in our wind turbines and I hope that this will mark the start of a mutually beneficial cooperation between our two companies."
