The joint venture supplier is to provide two 13.4MW vertical Pelton turbines plus generators, governors, safety valves, excitation and protection systems, spare parts and erection tools. The equipment is to be supplied over the next two years.
The contract is being fulfilled by alstom Hydro Espana from its manufacturing sites in Barcelona and Bilbao.
Ocana is being developed by the utility Electro Generadora del Austro (ElecAustro). The utility has also awarded a contract on the project to Siemens to provide the transformers and separate packages of civil works are being undertaken by Semaica and Cointec, respectively. Semaica is also undertaking some hydromechanical works.
ElecAustro is also developing the Soldados-Yanuncay-Minas project, as IWP&DC reported last month.
alstom-hydro is a JV of France-based groups Alstom and Bouygues.
