Under the contract, GE will also provide suggestion on how the utility can enhance reliability, availability and security of the electric system, while optimizing the efficient use of grid equipment.
GE’s Energy Consulting business India region managing director Dr Ravi Segal said: "With this grid study, we will be able to help EDC to better understand the opportunities to further enhance the reliability, availability and security of the Cambodian grid, while helping to ensure the most efficient use of their existing infrastructure to support the country’s growing electricity demand."
The study, which marks a step ahead in EDC’s aim to enhance the grid infrastructure in the country, will help EDC and the government to ensure a reliable supply of electricity that makes optimal use of its existing assets, a critical component for the country’s continued growth.
US Ambassador to Cambodia William Todd said: "The U.S. government supports Cambodia’s continued economic growth through increased investment by U.S. companies like GE."
EDC will also award a five-year software maintenance and services contract to GE to provide specific software maintenance and support to the EDC’s energy management system (EMS) as well as local training to the EDC staff to further enhance their EMS operation knowledge and skillsets.
