NOVA Chemicals through the expansion project is planning to increase the capacity of its Joffre site polyethylene plant by almost 40%and utilize the existing site ethylene capacity.
Under the contract work, the company will install 431 kiloton per annum single-train linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) unit at the plant.
Technip will also provide detailed engineering and procurement of the new reaction section, extrusion section, and railcar loading section, and modify the existing purifications systems.
In addition, the company will design the plant off-sites, utilities, interconnections, and other supporting units for the facility.
Technip North America senior vice president David Dickson said, "We are delighted to have been awarded this contract after successfully completing the pre front-end engineering design (Pre-FEED) and FEED for this expansion project."
The operating centers of the company in Texas, US, Calgary, Canada, and Chennai, India will carry out the project work.
The engineering work of the project is planned for completion in 2014, while systems start up is scheduled in late 2015.
