The new substations and transmission lines are expected to be constructed at a cost of over INR7bn ($129.5m), reported the Times of India.

As part of the project, UPTCL is planning to build new transmission substations of 132KV and 220KV and lay new transmission lines.

The electric supplier will also upgrade the existing substations to meet the peak demand period in summer season.

The publication quoted sources as saying that the substation and lines will be built in Azamgarh, Agra, and in parts of Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh.

UPTCL is said to construct the 132KV sub-stations in areas, such as Mubarakpur, Sikandra and Orai and also lay a massive network of transmission lines.
