SunPower intends to lease an existing building, which has up to 320,000sq ft of capacity, to manufacture its high-efficiency E18 series, E19 series and E20 series solar panels for residential, commercial and power plant projects.
The company is also planning to produce its SunPower T5 Solar Roof Tile system.
SunPower has collaborated with the Industrial Development Commission of Mexicali for locating its facility on an existing building.
SunPower COO Marty Neese said the new manufacturing facility enables the company to quickly deliver its high-efficiency, high-reliability solar products to a growing North American solar market.
US based SunPower designs, manufactures and delivers the high-efficiency solar cells, solar panels and solar systems.
