As a part of collaboration, BMT will direct engineers from its Australian and Indian facilities to work together with Adani at its head office in Ahmedabad, India, providing expert advice and guidance.

Commenting on the alliance, BMT WBM official Tony McAlister said that its 40 years of expertise in mining and port infrastructure development has helped it secure the project from Adani Mining.

"In collaboration with our Indian offices, we have forged a strong relationship with Adani, to cover all aspects of civil infrastructure, mechanical and electrical design for the proposed port facility."

"We’re hard at work with the assembled teams to refine the initial designs in order to create the most energy efficient systems and designs which will help to minimise initial capital expenditure and on-going operational costs for this important project for both Australia and India," elaborated McAlister.

Meanwhile, the proposed terminal, T0, of the coal terminal at Abbot Point is estimated to produce 70 million tons of coal per annum. In combination with T1 it has annual production capacity of 120 million tons.
