This well, known as Tambora, is situated about 93km off the coast of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro at a water depth of approximately 130m.

OGX, which holds a 100% working interest in the BM-C-41block, encountered a hydrocarbon column of about 12m in the sandstone reservoirs of the Santonian section with about 5m of net pay.

The company also encountered a hydrocarbon column of approximately 174m in carbonates of the Albian section with around 96m of net pay.

Drilling activities were initiated by the Ocean Ambassador rig earlier this month.
