The new control center will provide a model for global utilities to deliver better operational efficiency, while Ventyx software will help the energy firm to support region’s growing demand for sustainable power.

Ventyx said that a host of IT solutions from its portfolio will be implemented, developed and tested, including business analytics, network optimization, load forecasting, demand response, and distributed resource management.

The center, which is due be installed, is expected to be operational in early 2014 for test and development purposes.

E.ON Innovation Centre Distribution vice president and head Peter Sigenstam said that smart grid is about optimizing power delivery to ensure customer satisfaction.

"To support this goal, the next generation of smart grid control centers will need to handle unprecedented operational demands," Sigenstam added.

"We are pleased to partner with Ventyx, whose proven software solutions are essential to the success of our smart grid initiative."

Ventyx senior vice president Kennet Wilhelmsson said the control center model being implemented at E.ON’s smart grid control center represents a significant advance in smart grid innovation.

"We believe it will serve as a guide for utilities around the world as they move to stay on top of increasing variations in generation and consumption," Wilhelmsson added.
