As part of the contract, ZTE will offer complete smart meter solutions to EDEL, including equipment, construction, personnel training and operations and maintenance (O&M).

The company’s customized smart meter solution supports multiple tariffs and has enriched functionality.

It prevents electricity bill arrears, improves management efficiency and reduces operational costs of manual meter reading.

The ZTE communications module for the project includes a power line carrier, which supports remote centralized meter reading.

ZTE said the project has been planned to solve problems such as electricity bill arrears, time-consuming manual meter reading and electricity theft, and improve EDEL’s management efficiency and reduce its O&M costs.

ZTE Government and Enterprise Network in the Middle East and Africa CTO Wang Yiwen said as a reliable partner of the electrical power industry, ZTE provides complete smart grid solutions.

"We are proud of the recent partnership with EDEL because it illustrates how ZTE’s technology is green, reliable, and efficient," Yiwen added.
