Under the contract, the company will deliver a comprehensive solutions package for each vessel.

A subsidiary of Malaysia-based offshore support vessels builder, Nam Cheong, will construct the vessels at one of its subcontracted yards in China called Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding.

Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding has signed a contract with Wärtsilä recently in March for developing the vessels.

The comprehensive solution contract for each vessel will include the basic customised design, the main power generation system, the propulsion system, the Wärtsilä Low Loss Concept electrical system and the automation system.

Wärtsilä will design the vessels, based on its WSD 1000 design, which has been customised to meet the specific requirements and operational forms required in complex offshore applications.

The company said the single supplier concept will reduce the time and costs related to the procurement and logistics procedures.
