Czech utility CEZ has decided to extend the annual outage of unit 1 at the Temelín NPP until mid-December, because several operational checks took longer than initially expected, the company said in a statement. CEZ said it had cancelled a turbine maintenance outage for Temelín-2, which had been planned for the same period. Increased vibrations of the turbine at Temelín-2 occurred in recent weeks but its operation is now stable and there is no reason for an outage, CEZ noted. Unit 1 was shut down for refuelling and maintenance in August 2016. Unit-2 was restarted in October 2016 after an extended outage, which began in June 2016. CEZ delayed the restart, because it needed to carry out checks on the turbine-bearing support and sealing system, which pushed back the restart schedule initially to late September and then to mid-October. Temelín NPP has two VVER-1000/320 pressurised water reactors.
