Trasfor manufactures dry-type transformers and inductors for low-voltage and medium-voltage applications.
The company also provides specialty products for drives, railway rolling stock, offshore wind power and other types of power generation based on renewable energy, and in addition supplies a range of industries such as marine, oil and gas.
The acquisition, which is subject to customary regulatory approvals, is expected to be closed during the second half of 2011.
ABB power products division head Bernhard Jucker said this bolt-on acquisition will strengthen ABB’s transformers business, broaden its customer offering and extend its market presence.
