The fully developed and contracted power project was purchased by the company from US-based CPV Renewable Energy, which will continue to own the first phase of the project called Cimarron I.

The Cimarron II wind farm will be sited on 16,000 acres of leased farm land and its construction is expected to begin this year.

The electricity and associated renewable energy credits produced by the facility will be sold to Kansas City Power & Light under a 20-year agreement.

The wind farm is expected to start commercial operation by June 2012 and generate enough electricity to power nearly 40,000 homes.
