The move paves the way for the development, construction and operation of the 78MW wind farm in Goodhue County in Minnesota, US.

Construction on the project is expected to start later this year and commercial operation is planned to begin in 2012.

The project’s construction and engineering will be led by Carstensen Contractors and Ryan Companies US, and local development is being carried out by US-based National Wind.

Mesa Power founder T Boone Pickens said approval of the project underscores the fact that wind is an important part of America’s future energy mix.
