The plant will consist of three combined-cycle blocks of approximately 100MW each.
GE will also support the plant for 18 years through a contractual service agreement with Kimanis Power, a unit of Petronas Gas, Malaysian natural gas company.
Kimanis Power will develop the plant on a build, own, operate and transfer basis and the generated electricity will be sold to Sabah Electricity.
The Frame 6FA gas turbine is the mid-sized member of GE’s F technology fleet and is well suited for combined-cycle, industrial and cogeneration applications.
The turbines are expected to be shipped in the first quarter of 2012, with commercial operation scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2013.
