The company will set up two new research and development (R&D) centers in the Danish towns of Brande and Aalborg, and will expand its headquarters in Brande.

Siemens said it will match the capacity of its production plants in Denmark to the growing demand for offshore wind turbines in Europe.

In 2010, the company opened two new production facilities in China and US, and will open a new Center of Competence in the Danish city of Vejle next year.

Siemens Wind Power business unit chief technology officer Henrik Stiesdal said through the investment in the new R&D test centers, the company will be able to investigate and verify new products and solutions like the direct drive and quantum blade technologies before they are implemented in the field.
