With the commissioning of these wind farms, the company has surpassed 1,000MW of wind power capacity in the UK.
The Arecleoch facility, which occupies an area of 24 square kilometers, is equipped with 60 Gamesa G80 wind turbines, each with a generating capacity of 2MW.
The Mark Hill wind farm occupies an area of 580 hectares and includes 28 units of Gamesa G87-2MW turbine.
Both facilities are expected to combinedly generate enough electricity to power about 100,000 households per year and avoid approximately 160,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
The Iberdrola Group plans to invest over £3bn ($4.9bn) in the UK between 2010 and 2012, through its subsidiaries, ScottishPower and ScottishPower Renewables.
