Parent company of PetroChina, CNPC said that the pipeline connecting Dalian Xingang Port and Dalian Petrochemicals has been restored and around 45,000 tonnes of crude oil each day is pumped through the pipeline.

CNPC ensured the crude oil supply to the refinery by bringing its self-owned oil wharf and railway into operations, during the closure of the pipeline due to the explosion.

A blast occurred on July 16 hit the pipeline 0.9mt in diameter and triggered an adjacent smaller pipeline to explode near Dalian Xingang Port. Crude oil from the broken spilled into the sea near the city.

A State Administration of Work Safety and Ministry of Public Security investigation showed that the blast occurred due to the improper desulfurizer injections into the oil pipeline, according to Xinhua report.

The report further said that the accident is still under investigation.
