The deal supports 1.1 megawatts of on-site rooftop solar generation on 213 homes at Sheppard AFB through MP2 Energy’s Net Energy Metering Program for the purchase of all excess solar generation. Additionally, the solar contributes more than 30 percent of the homes’ total power needs. The remaining electricity MP2 Energy procures will be 100 percent renewable, sourced from various regional assets.
The solar arrangement will protect the community from fluctuating power costs, add energy resiliency, and save money. Sheppard AFB homes will use the savings realized from the solar program to reinvest into their communities. Improvement projects include new roofing, HVAC upgrades and recreational area enhancements.
MP2 Energy President Matt Adams said: “This deal demonstrates our innovative solar power solutions for military installations, namely our custom approach to solar solutions to reduce retail supply cost.”
