The immediate focus of the GE-Doosan agreement will be on the development of a larger output steam turbine-generator for the next-generation nuclear reactors in South Korea.
Dongsoo Suh, executive vice president and head of Power Plant Business Group at Doosan, said: “This agreement strengthens our relationship to develop advanced designs for the next generation of steam turbines and generators in South Korea and globally.”
Paul Browning, vice president of thermal products at GE Power & Water, said that the agreement helps position GE and Doosan better to serve the industry in producing lower emission power plants, both nuclear and Ultra Super Critical fossil.
Mr Browning added: “It is in keeping with our commitment to power the world responsibly with more energy efficient products.”
