The bids were in response to an annoucement by the state to installation 1,000MW of solar power projects and included proposals from Alfa InfraProp and Lanco Solar.

The two companies bid to develop 80MW and 60MW solar installations respectively.

Azure Green, Surya Green Power, Photon Energy, Pennar Industries and Surana Ventures comprise the other significant bidders.

Districts such as Mahboobnagar, Medak and Nalgonda, which are situated along the border of the state capital Hyderabad, received the highest number of bids.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy stated that the early completion of solar, wind and bio-mass power projects is a priority for the power deficit state.
