The audit was conducted as meetings and interviews with personnel in the operations organization at Sandsli during week 8, and through verifications, function tests and interviews with offshore personnel during week 13.

Purpose of the audit

The purpose of the audit was to contribute to and verify that StatoilHydro plans, manages and conducts its activities according to the HSE regulations in an efficient and goal-oriented manner.

During the audit PSA emphasized on fire and gas detection, processes safety and emergency shut-down, ignition source control, active and passive fire protection, emergency power and emergency light and alarm handling.

Result of the audit

PSA’s main impression after the audit was positive, but certain challenges emerged relating to process safety and active and passive fire protection.

PSA has identified five non-conformities in relation to the regulatory requirements. These are related to dependence between the regulation function and process safety, follow-up of HIPPS valves, the fire water system, passive fire protection and escape routes from rooms with high voltage installations.
