Sintez and RWE have signed a provisional letter of intent that will give RWE the majority share in a future consortium.
TGK-2, based in the Russian city of Yaroslavl, owns 16 combined heat and power plants with an electricity capacity of 2,600MW and a heat capacity of 12,000MW.
In 2007, the TGK-2 power stations produced 10 billion kWh of electricity and 23 billion kWh of heat, generating revenues equivalent to some E600 million.
The power plants were put on public offer by the tender commission of UES as a so-called TGK-2 package. They are located in northwest Russia in the regions of Yaroslavl, Vologda, Tver, Novgorod, Kostroma and Arkhangelsk, and supply approximately seven million customers with power and heat.
