Vortex offers auxiliary mechanical systems, specialized hydropower products and consulting services and will continue to as a separate operating unit within Voith Hydro as well as retaining its name and location in Granby, Quebec.

Voith Hydro Canada president and CEO Denys Turcotte remarked that Vortex Hydro’s mechanical systems, products and services will expand Voith’s offerings in Canada and US.

"Vortex Hydro will complement our existing After Market Business in Canada and the U.S., and expand Voith’s products to new and future customers," Turcotte said.

Vortex Hydro founder and president Richard Evoy noted that the acquisition will enhance the firm’s network and geographical reach.

"By fully integrating Vortex Hydro into Voith, we will benefit from Voith’s global reach and 140 years of experience in the hydropower sector," Evoy said.

Vortex’s balance-of-plant solutions for hydropower are applied in gas and steam turbines as well as several industrial processes.
