The Northwind 100 turbine will be delivered to a proposed 320-acre wind farm located in Delta Junction, at the end of the Alaska Highway.

The turbine installation, projected for summer 2008, follows a proof of concept effort that consists of building the development infrastructure and assessing the wind resource.

Alaska Environmental Power ultimately plans to supply 15MW of clean, renewable power to the Rail Belt grid in Alaska. It intends to make use of the various federal tax credits and incentives available for developing wind power.

The company has applied for a grant from the Denali Commission, which, in conjunction with the Alaska Energy Authority, has initiated a program to promote the development of renewable energy resources in Alaska.
