The well is being spud to target the Jorvik prospect located on the east of the Edvard Grieg field in the North Sea, offshore Norway.

The company is expecting the prospect to have unrisked, gross, prospective resources of 46 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Lundin is drilling the well to prove oil bearing sandstones and conglomerates in a separate basin directly east of the Edvard Grieg field.

The well will be drilled to a total depth of 2,075m below mean sea level using semi-submersible drilling rig Transocean Winner. Drilling is expected to take about 50 days time to reach the depth.

Lundin Petroleum with 50% interest in the license PL338 is the operator and partners Wintershall and OMV each has 30% and 20% interest in the license respectively.
