Cyprus awarded two deep water blocks to Total in 2012 as a part of the second round of offshore exploration licensing.
The company has entered into the PSC for Blocks 10 and 11 covering 2,572km² and 2,958km², respectively, in the southwest Cyprus located in the water depths ranging from 1,000m to 2,500m.
Total Exploration & Production Middle East senior VP Arnaud Breuillac said the firm will conduct extensive seismic program and shoot 3D seismic on Block 11 and 2D seismic on Block 10 on the newly awarded exploration acreage in Cyprus.
"This acreage acquisition is aligned with Total’s ambitious exploration strategy focused on new acreage and plays," Breuillac added.
The company will begin the exploration program by conducting seismic survey on the blocks.
