Sharewell’s Electro-Trac EM Measurement While Drilling (MWD) system, which will be sold by GE as part of its MWD portfolio, includes a rugged downhole assembly comprised of an electronic assembly, a gap-sub antenna package, and a battery package.
GE said the latest move will enable customers to expand their businesses into areas where EM MWD is applicable, in addition to improving operating efficiencies.
Commenting on the agreement, GE Downhole Technology business GM James Junker said it allows GE to offer a compatible product to the large installed GE customer base.
"The new partnership moves Sharewell’s advanced EM MWD telemetry technology to the next level by combining GE’s global support network and best-in-class downhole sensing technology to offer customers a more complete solution in key global markets," Junker added.
