The export oil pipeline carrying approximately 110,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the Yemen’s main oil terminal situated on the Red Sea is being repeatedly attacked by armed men.

The latest attack is sixth one to be reported in a month’s time following a conflict between the armed tribesmen and the local military authorities.

Yemen Interior Ministry official was quoted by xinhuanet as saying that, "The attack hit the same section of the oil line in Habab Valley, just a few hours after the engineering team fixed the damage of the previous attacks on Friday morning."

Repeated attacks on the crude oil pipeline led to a retaliation from the military which left 10 tribesmen dead and over 15 injured.

On Friday morning, mediation by the local tribal was successful, but by late evening the pipeline was blown up.

Around 70% of the Yemen government’s budget depends on the export of oil and the repeated attacks are leaving the country cash-strapped.
