Alstom said that the geothermal turbine will have a capacity of 25 MW. The turbine it will be constructed totally in Morelia, in the Mexican state of Michoacan, using European technology. Cintia Angulo, president of Alstom said that the geothermal project means Alstom’s return to the Mexican geothermal industry, after receiving the RFP for Los Azufres, in Michoacan in 2002.
It is an achievement in terms of energy diversification, and in terms of progress for renewable energy in the country, said Angulo.
