The new facility, which is expected to have as much as 1m tonnes/year of capacity, will use the advantaged feed sources expected from development of shale gas reserves.

The company said that the unit is being built due to the availability of low-cost raw materials from shale-gas formations in the region.

The company’s feasibility study is expected to be complete by the end of 2011.

I t is anticipated to take around three to four years to finish construction and bring the unit online, provided Chevron Phillips Chemical decides to go ahead with the project.
