Dr Meier has over 27 years of experience in the photovoltaics industry in a variety of research and engineering positions. He joins Suniva from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

At NREL, Dr Meier worked on advanced cell designs and issues related to the production of silicon feedstock by novel processes.

Prior to working at NREL, he served as the vice president of engineering of Solar Power Industries from 2003 to 2006, where he led a team that developed processes for fabricating multicrystalline silicon solar cells with wafers from large multicrystalline ingots.

Ajeet Rohatgi, Suniva’s founder and chief technical officer, said: Dan Meier has proven himself to be a great researcher with a solid track record in the industry. We look forward to working with him to bring our ideas of high-efficiency, low-cost silicon photovoltaics to reality.
