According to the AFP report, the senior government official stated that the Independent Petroleum Group (IPG) would supply the crude oil volumes to Zambia over the next two years with the first 90,000 tonne consignment expected to be received shortly. The entire volume agreed upon will be supplied in 16 consignments.

The tender was to supply 1.44 million metric tonnes of crude oil and IPG has been awarded the $1.2 billion contract. The Kuwaiti crude is expected to be processed at the Indeni refinery in Zambia, according to AFP.
