The monopile, weighing 268 tonnes, was supplied and installed by joint venture company Per Arsleff Bilfinger Berger Ingeniurbeu.

The wind energy project, which is jointly owned by Dong Energy, E.ON and Masdar, will be built in two phases.

The first phase will include 175 turbines with a total generating capacity of 630MW and two substations, and is expected to be completed at the end of 2012.

The second phase of the project, still to be approved, is expected to take the total capacity of the wind farm up to 1,000MW.
