The €90m contract has been awarded by Exelon Generation.

Each of the Exelon Generation’s Colorado Bend Generating Station in Wharton County as well as Wolf Hollow plant in Granbury, US, comprises two General Electric’s advanced, high-efficiency H-class gas turbines.

Construction of the new gas units will commence in 2015 while commercial operation are scheduled to start in 2017.

The new gas unit will generate approximately 1,000MW on the Texas grid.

Alstom Thermal Power Gas Business senior vice president Steve Meszaros said: "Alstom is very pleased to be selected by Exelon Generation to supply its HRSGs for these new plants.

"With over two decades of experience in cycling design and a unique ability to provide customers with a full range of delivery options, Alstom is positioned as a market leader in HRSG technology for the next generation of high efficiency combined cycle power plants."

Capable of recovering exhaust heat from the gas turbines to produce steam that maximizes generation capacity and efficiency, the HRSG technology can enhance the combined-cycle power plants performance while reducing emissions.

Alstom recently signed a contract to supply secured HRSG for three combined-cycle power plants, which feature advanced class gas turbines.
